About Our Bylaws
The bylaws of the New Hampshire Business Education Association establish the framework for our organization's governance, operations, and member services. These bylaws have guided NHBEA since its founding in 1923 and are regularly reviewed to ensure they continue to serve our mission effectively.
Our bylaws reflect our commitment to transparency, professional excellence, and service to business educators across New Hampshire.
Article I: Name and Purpose
Section 1: Name
The name of this organization shall be the New Hampshire Business Education Association (NHBEA).
Section 2: Purpose
The purpose of this organization shall be:
- To promote and advance business education in New Hampshire
- To provide professional development opportunities for business educators
- To foster communication and collaboration among members
- To recognize excellence in business education
Article II: Membership
Section 1: Categories
Membership shall be open to the following categories:
- Professional Members: Business educators currently employed in New Hampshire educational institutions
- Student Members: Students enrolled in business education or related programs
- Retired Members: Retired business educators who have been members of NHBEA
- Honorary Members: Individuals who have made significant contributions to business education
Section 2: Dues
Annual dues shall be determined by the Executive Board and approved by the membership.
Section 3: Rights and Privileges
All members in good standing shall have the right to vote and hold office, participate in association activities, and receive association publications and communications.
Article III: Officers and Executive Board
Section 1: Officers
The officers of the association shall be:
- President
- Vice President
- Secretary
- Treasurer
Section 2: Duties
Each officer shall perform the duties prescribed by these bylaws and the parliamentary authority adopted by the association.
Section 3: Terms of Office
Officers shall serve for a term of two years or until their successors are elected and qualified.
Article IV: Meetings
Section 1: Annual Conference
The association shall hold an annual conference for the purpose of conducting business, professional development, and networking.
Section 2: Special Meetings
Special meetings may be called by the President or upon written request of at least 10% of the membership.
Section 3: Quorum
A quorum for transaction of business shall consist of members present at any properly called meeting.
Article V: Amendments
Section 1: Procedure
These bylaws may be amended at any annual meeting or special meeting by a two-thirds vote, provided that notice of the proposed amendment has been given to the membership at least 30 days in advance.
Section 2: Review
The bylaws shall be reviewed at least every five years to ensure they remain current and effective.
